Curbside or Side-Yard Junk Pickup: What Changes the Quote?

A pile beside the curb and a pile behind a side-yard gate may contain similar items, but they need different access information. This guide explains how to describe the actual pickup location and uses a real Peoria side-yard project to show the importance of a precise removal boundary.

Before and after bagged bulk junk removal beside a Peoria house, with stacked tires and containers remaining
Peoria, August 8, 2026: the main pile of bagged and loose contents was removed. Tires, containers, a pallet and wall-side materials remained; the entire yard was not emptied. View full-size photo.

Describe where the material sits today

Tell Reset whether the pile is at the street edge, in a driveway, behind a gate or distributed across several areas. Include the route between the material and the proposed loading location. If the pile will be moved before pickup, explain the plan and send updated photographs when its condition changes.

The Peoria project shown here involved bagged and loose contents beside a home. The matching comparison shows the main pile removed, while retained tires, containers and other wall-side materials remain. It is a selective bulk-removal result, not an empty-yard photograph.

Show access as well as quantity

For a side-yard pickup, show gates, narrow passages, turns, steps and surface changes. For a curbside request, show the full pile and explain safe loading access. Do not place belongings in a street, walkway or other restricted area just to make a quote seem simpler.

The nearest visible parking space is not necessarily available for loading. Explain driveway restrictions or access arrangements that affect the work. Keep exact access codes and personal details out of public photos; provide necessary arrival information privately once the booking arrangements are confirmed.

Identify the materials and what stays

A single pile can mix furniture, bags, wood, branches and other materials. Photograph the whole pile from more than one angle and list anything that is not obvious. Unknown containers, liquids, sharp objects and unusually heavy materials should be identified for review before inclusion is assumed.

State what remains at the property. In the Peoria comparison, several objects stay along the wall after the main pile is gone. Clear labels and a simple approved-item list help avoid treating every nearby container or stored object as part of the removal.

Compare the actual scope, not the location label

Curbside does not automatically mean a fixed price, and side-yard does not by itself determine the cost. The quantity, materials, handling and access all need review. Send the real conditions and ask for a quote rather than borrowing the price or trailer description from a different project.

Private junk removal is also separate from municipal bulk collection. If you are considering a city program, verify its current rules and schedule with the city. For Reset, confirm accepted items, the agreed removal area, access and appointment before relying on a specific pickup arrangement.

Questions before booking

Is curbside pickup always cheaper?

No universal price comparison is promised. Quantity, materials, loading and access affect the specific quote. Show the actual pile and its location.

Should I move the pile to the street first?

Do not move material into a street or restricted area just to request a quote. Photograph where it is and explain access. Discuss any proposed relocation before the appointment.

Does a side-yard cleanout mean everything is removed?

Only the approved scope should leave. Identify stored items, landscaping and materials that remain. The real Peoria example intentionally shows retained items after the main pile was collected.
